Farewell to the wild weather …

After a wild weekend of weather at Eudunda with hail, horizontal rain, strong gale force winds, it was a welcome change to just waking up to a very cool morning.

After breakfast and packing up the Taj, Jenny headed south to home with Charley and I hit the road north towards Darwin. Chasing the sun and the warmth as a “grey nomad”. Well for a couple of months anyway.

There was still a little bit of wind but not up to the strength of the past couple of days. It also tended to a slight tail wind which helped the fuel economy.

Being a holiday Monday most of the traffic was heading south back to Adelaide with not too much heading north in my direction.

One thing I did notice was how patchy the rainfall must have been over the last couple of days further north. It seemed that not as much landed out here but I did manage to go through some light showers. These soon disappeared after Port Augusta.

Just out of Port Augusta, there was a familiar vehicle heading south with Iz and Jared. They were returning from a weekend trip up the Oodnadatta Track. Was not expecting to see them out here.

A couple of fuel stops before stopping for the night at a bush camp alongside the Stuart Highway just on sunset. With the number of dead roos on the side of the road, there was no need to keep driving in the dark.

Distance for the day was 631 kms. Fuel costs were $1.99 and $2.13 per litre.
